Dave Gorman pens new book on games

Dave Gorman has written a new book based around playing games.

In typically adventurous style, the comic travelled Britain to find opponents willing to play with him, and some obscure games.

They included Kubb, which involves knocking over wooden blocks by throwing sticks at them; Tikal, a board game based around the Central American jungles; and Khet, a chess-style stategy game involving low-power lasers.

However, he also played classics such as Monopoly, Scrabble, dominoes and cribbage, finding opponents ranging from casual players to world champions on the internet.

Gorman, who has previously travelled the world in a quest to meet his namesakes and following a trail based on Google search results, said: ‘It's probably the gentlest of my books so far. Although... well... it feels like it is... but it isn't.’

Dave Gorman vs The Rest Of The World will published by Ebury in June. Preorder from Amazon here.
